Not an Odalisque

Nothing for you

I’ve been writing all day and nothing will work. So, more to comfort myself than succour you, I give you Flaubert:

“As though the fullness of the heart does not sometimes overflow into the emptiest of metaphors. After all, no one can ever give the exact measure of his needs, of his thoughts or sorrows. Human language is like a cracked kettle on which we beat out tunes for bears to dance to, when all the time we are longing to move the stars to pity.”

(Flaubert, Madame Bovary)
